Debra Purdon Shares Soroptimist Club Dallas – Your Voice Matters Podcast

We are proud to announce that in January 2021, our club participated in an international project in conjunction with all the Soroptimist clubs in India and SI Aalst of Belgium. The project is called “Plant Trees for a Brilliant Future” and last October, one hundred indigenous rare varieties of trees saplings were planted in India. They were planted following the Japanese Miyawaki method of planting multiple native trees in small spaces, requiring minimum maintenance and free from chemicals.  Some of the tree saplings were planted at the Gandhi Museum, the Iconic heritage place in Madurai, and the museum gave10, 000 square feet of land for project. Other tree saplings were planted in the backyards of institutions and schools in an effort to involve students and women so they can learn and take on the responsibility of taking care of the trees.
